Four Europe for citizens calls launched
The European Commission has launched four new calls for proposals for the Europe for citizens programme. The first call is published under strand 1: European remembrance. The other three calls are published under strand 2: Democratic engagement and civic participation. The calls are Town Twinning, Networks of Towns and Civil Society Projects. The deadline is March 1, 2018. The second deadline in 2018 for Town Twinning and Networks of towns is September 3.
The budget for European Remembrance projects is estimated at € 3.7 million. Funding is up to € 100,000. The maximum project duration is 18 months. For Town Twinning the budget is estimated at € 4.6 million. Funding is up to € 25,000. The maximum project duration is 21 days. The budget for Networks of Towns is € 4.5 million. Funding is up to € 150,000. The maximum project duration is 24 months. For Civil Society Projects the budget is € 3.5 million. Funding is up to € 150,000. The maximum project duration is 18 months.
The Programme Guide has been revised in 2018 and currently only available in English. Main changes relate to the updates of the unit costs and lump sums and the link to the priories for 2018. Translations in the other EU official languages will be available in January 2018.
The aim of the Europe for Citizens 2014-2020 programme is:
- to contribute to citizens' understanding of the EU, its history and diversity;
- to foster European citizenship and to improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at EU level;
- to raise awareness of remembrance, common history and values;
- to encourage democratic participation of citizens at EU level, by developing citizens' understanding of the EU policy making-process and by promoting opportunities for societal and intercultural engagement and volunteering at EU level.
