'It's not oil gone', London, UK

Event date:
2012-11-28 A lecture entitled 'It's not oil gone' will be held on 28 November 2012 in London, UK.
Crude oil is major source of energy, particularly for transport, and is projected to remain so for the decades to come. It is, however, a finite resource and will eventually deplete. Not only this, but the carbon dioxide produced by burning oil makes it a significant contributor to climate change.

The lecture will explore how oil is recovered, focusing particularly on how much is left behind and discussing current recovery methods. Opportunities to exploit the remaining oil through new and emerging technologies will also be highlighted, along with practical, economic, environmental and political drivers that will affect the take-up of these new technologies.
