Nineteenth EuroQSAR symposium on knowledge enabling ligand design, Vienna, Austria

Event date:
2012-08-26 The Nineteenth EuroQSAR symposium will focus on knowledge enabling ligand design. It will take place from 26 to 30 August 2012 in Vienna, Austria.

Generally speaking drugs are small organic molecules that activate or inhibit the function of a bio molecule such as a protein, an operation with therapeutic benefits for patients. Drug design is therefore extremely important as it involves the creation of small molecules that are complementary in shape and charge to their biomolecular targets. Frequently relying on computer-modelling techniques, the process is often referred to as computer-aided drug design.

The conference will discuss computational drug design in agricultural and environmental sciences. It will bring together scientists to discuss and exchange views on the most recent breakthroughs such as integrated approaches and open innovation strategies in drug discovery. Session topics will include:
- integrative approaches - predicting in vivo data;
- open source, open access, open data;
- proteins - structure, function, modulation, interaction;
- on silico profiling - 'physchem meets biology';
- translational informatics;
- probing biological systems.
