Oncode publishes open call for female junior investigators
Oncode Institute invites applications for its Female Junior Investigator Programme, which aims to support talented female junior investigators who have established their own line of research. Oncode is a newly established virtual institute in the Netherlands, in which over 600 cancer researchers have joined forces to come up with new solutions for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer. Deadline for submitting proposals for this Open call is August 31, 2018.
The objective of Oncode is to further strengthen its scientific community with more outstanding cancer researchers. Special attention will be given to attract female junior investigators, since Oncode feels a strong responsibility to contribute to gender equality. Up to eight young female scientists will be awarded each with € 150,000 per year during the first phase of Oncode, ending in 2022. Female scientists from all Dutch universities and research institutes may apply.
Oncode focuses on better understanding the fundamental mechanisms of cancer biology, with the ultimate goal to improve long-term survival and the quality of life of patients. The virtual institute serves as a platform for excellent cancer researchers in The Netherlands to collaborate, share knowledge, expertise and technology. It stimulates scientific freedom and offers dedicated support to optimise the translation of fundamental insights into clinical applications.
