Pre-announcement WOTRO - launch call Global Food Challenges Programme in April

NWO WOTRO will launch in April of this year the first call for the new programme Global Food Challenges (GFCP). This new research and innovation programme aims to contribute to sustainable solutions for global food security. The call will invite consortia of research institutes and other organisations (both public and private) in both the Netherlands and in developing countries to submit joint research and innovation proposals.

GFCP is a response to the urgent and growing need for new knowledge, insights, innovations, policies and practices to meet food security challenges. It aims to generate research based understanding of:
• emerging key issues in food security and their impact on local food security and;
• the role of private sector development.

GFCP is a joint initiative of the WOTRO research and innovation programme Global Food Systems and the Food and Business Knowledge Agenda of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is positioned within the Innovation Contracts of the Dutch Economic Top Sectors Agri&Food and Horticulture & Propagation Materials.
