Competition Calls for European Cities - Mayors Challenge 2013-2014 (€ 5 million)

The 2013-2014 Mayors Challenge aims to inspire cities to generate innovative ideas that solve major urban challenges and improve city life. Ideas that ultimately can be shared with cities across Europe and around the globe. Bloomberg Philanthropies is seeking for ideas that are transferable - ones that cities can import and customize to benefit their own citizens. Your city must have at least 100,000 residents within the administrative division of the city and must be located in one of the European Union Member States or any of the nations in Europe that are Associated Countries of the FP7.

Winners will be selected based on their idea's vision, potential for impact, implementation plan, and potential to spread to other cities. One city will win a grand prize of € 5 million to put their plan into action. Four other cities will win € 1 million each. The prize money winners receive is intended for use in implementing your bold idea, in accordance with your applicable laws. Funds will be distributed over a two or three year period, depending on the particulars of your project. Any excess funds must be used to help build winning cities' innovation capacity.
