Two new Horizon 2020 Societal Challenges calls launched

The European Commission has launched two new calls for projects under the programme Horizon 2020 - EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The calls, published under the main pillar Societal Challenges - Smart, green and integrated transport, are Mobility for Growth 2014-2015 (H2020-MG-2015-Singlestage-B) with a budget of € 17,500,000, and Green Vehicles 2015 (H2020-GV-2015) with a budget of € 30,000,000. Deadline of submission for both calls is October 15, 2015.

The Challenge - Smart, green and integrated transport aims to boost the competitiveness of the European transport industries and achieve a European transport system that is resource-efficient, climate-and-environmentally-friendly, safe and seamless for the benefit of all citizens, the economy and society.

The Challenge will contribute to four key objectives, each supported by specific activities:
• resource efficient transport that respects the environment;

• better mobility, less congestion, more safety and security;

• global leadership for the European transport industry;

• socio-economic and behavioural research and forward looking activities for policy making.

Horizon 2020 is the successor of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). The budget is € 80 billion for the 7 years duration of the programme. Organisations that are involved in research, technological development, and innovation on an international scale and individual researchers can participate in the programme.
