Four Horizon 2020 Science with and for Society calls launched

The European Commission has launched four new Science with and for Society calls under the programme Horizon 2020 - EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Deadline of submission of all calls is September 16, 2015. Aim of the programme Science with and for Society is to build effective cooperation between science and society, to recruit new talent for science and to pair scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility. The programme will be instrumental in addressing the European societal challenges tackled by Horizon 2020, building capacities and developing innovative ways of connecting science to society. It will make science more attractive (notably to young people), increase society's appetite for innovation, and open up further research and innovation activities.

The calls are the following:
• Call for making science education and careers attractive for young people - H2020-SEAC-2015-1: The available budget is € 8,900,000;

• Call for integrating Society in Science and Innovation - H2020-ISSI-2015-1: The available budget is € 22,000,000;

• Call for promoting Gender Equality in Research and Innovation - H2020-GERI-2015-1: The available budget is € 9,000,000;

• Call for developing governance for the advancement of Responsible Research and Innovation - H2020-GARRI-2015-1: The available budget is € 5,500,000.

Horizon 2020 is the successor of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). The budget is € 80 billion for the 7 years duration of the programme. Organisations that are involved in research, technological development, and innovation on an international scale and individual researchers can participate in the programme.
