NWO call Uncertainty Reduction in Smart Energy Systems (URSES) launched

NWO has launched the call Uncertainty Reduction in Smart Energy Systems (URSES). Closing date for submitting applications is April 23, 2013. The aim of URSES is to reduce uncertainty for actors in the energy chain by developing the science and tools needed for smart energy systems and by gaining a better understanding of the causes, character and effects of these uncertainties from a social and behavioural sciences perspective. This programme therefore seeks to enable a fast transition to a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy system. URSES forms part of NWO's contribution to the Top Sector Energy - TKI Switch2SmartGrids.

Researchers with a background in mathematics, ICT, control theory, electrical engineering, economics and business, psychology, law and governance and social sciences may apply. A maximum budget of € 6.5 million is available. The maximum funding is € 750,000.

NWO organises a Matchmakingevent on URSES for researchers, corporations, public authorities and civil-society organisations on February 14, 2013 in the Jaarbeurs-gebouw in Utrecht.
