NWO publishes call Top-Grants for curiosity-driven research in astronomy, computer science and mathematics

NWO has published the call for proposals for Top-Grants for curiosity-driven research in astronomy, computer science and mathematics. Applications for TOP grants can be submitted continuously until May 1, 2018. The competition is intended for proposals involving innovative and high-risk scientific research which addresses questions of high academic standard and great scientific urgency. Applications should have evident relevance for astronomy, computer science and/or mathematics.

The TOP scheme is divided into two modules, namely one for senior researchers (Module 1) and one for junior researchers (Module 2). The budget is is approximately € 6.1 million for Module 1 and Module 2 altogether. For Module 1 researchers can apply for a grant for a minimum of two and a maximum of three research positions (PhD students or post-docs), plus a maximum of € 25,000 for additional resources for the proposed research. Module 2 funds a grant for one research position plus a maximum of € 12,000 for additional resources for the proposed research.
