Observation time at the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes

NWO invites astronomers in the Netherlands to apply for observation time at the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes (ING) on La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain). Upcoming deadline for submitting proposals is March 15, 2018 for observing time in semester B, which is from August 1 until January 31. The available observing time per semester is approximately 45 nights on the INT, and 45 nights on the WHT, both equally distributed over dark, grey and bright nights.

Semester A runs from February 1 until July 31, semester B runs from August 1 until January 31. The deadline for semester A is around September 15.

Ground-based telescopes are important instruments for astronomers to study the universe. These telescopes are often located at remote sites at high altitude to decrease influence of the surroundings and the atmosphere. The ING consists of the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope (WHT) and the 2.5 m Isaac Newton Telescope (INT). Since observing time on the telescopes is limited, the available time will be allocated to the best research proposals.
