NWO PhD@Sea call open for proposals

NWO invites applications for its programme PhD@Sea. Deadline for submitting proposals is June 13, 2019. The call focuses on cross-disciplinary research projects that can help realise the planning, operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms across the different spatial and temporal scales involved. The budget is up to € 1.5 million of which one project will be funded. Each application should bring at least 30% co-funding.

Applications can be submitted by an academic researcher on behalf of a consortium of academic researchers and public and/or private co-funding partners. A consortium should involve researchers of at least two different knowledge organisations.

The aim of the call should be realised through 3 up to 6 interlinked PhD students in a project that address several fundamental challenges, which fall within three focus areas:

  • Technical and physical aspects of offshore wind farm operations;
  • The marine environment, multi-purpose and cross-border spatial planning;
  • Society, markets and governance.

This call is part of the NWO contribution to the topsector Energy 2018- 2019, and therefore your proposal should fit within the topsector Energy research agenda. This should be demonstrated by means of a suitability statement, signed by the Director TKI Wind op Zee. You can request a suitability statement by downloading the relevant form and by submitting it to energie@nwo.nl. Please do this at least three weeks before the submission deadline of this call.
