Call Technology for Oncology II published

The successful research programme Technology for Oncology will be continued. NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES), the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF) and Topsector Life Sciences & Health (LSH) are again joining forces to connect medical science with technological research groups and industry. Deadline for submitting proposals for Technology for Oncology II is May 9, 2019. The total budget available is € 5.8 million. Funding is up to € 750,000.

The collaboration between AES, KWF and LSH should lead to technical innovations for the prevention, diagnosis and better treatment of cancer, including a better quality of life. NWO AES and KWF have made a budget of € 2,800,000 available. In addition, the Top Sector LSH has made a maximum of € 3,000,000 available. To apply for funding within this research programme the collaboration between researchers from the oncological and technical world with industry is an important condition. This combination must lead to application-oriented research that has a clear relevance and added value for (future) patients.

The partnership finances research which aims at developing technology with a significant and identifiable impact on one or more of the mission goals of KWF Kankerbestrijding: less cancer, more cure and a better quality of life. The main objectives of this Partnership programme are:

  • (New) collaborations and technology transfer between Dutch technical universities or research groups with proven technical experience and other research institutes;
  • Participation of, and collaboration with, industry in cancer-related technology development;
  • Technology that can be used to improve prevention, diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer, including quality of life.

Implementation and use of the obtained knowledge and results in oncology prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care should be the primary focus of the research proposals.
