Society in Science - The Branco Weiss Fellowship 2019

Society in Science - The Branco Weiss Fellowship invites applications for the 2018 fellowship. Deadline of submissions is January 15, 2019. Young researchers (born after December 31, 1983) in physical sciences, engineering and social sciences are offered a personal financial grant to work on a topic they choose at any academic institution throughout the world, for up to of five years. The amount granted is CHF 100,000 a year.

Funding may be used to cover all legitimate cost of research (i.e. salary and/or equipment, travel cost, consumables, personnel etc.). Candidates must officially hold a PhD on January 15, 2019.

The Branco Weiss Fellowship is designed to support postdoctoral researchers after their PhD and before their first faculty appointment. Those in current postdoctoral positions are also eligible. Ideally, fellows pursue unconventional projects in new areas of science, engineering and social sciences. The Society in Science fellowship program was initiated and financed by the Swiss entrepreneur Dr. Branco Weiss, who passed away in October 2010. The program belongs to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH).
