Europe for Citizens 2014-2020 funding programme officially adopted

The Council of the European Union has unanimously adopted the Regulation setting up the Europe for Citizens programme for the period 2014-2020 on April 14, 2014. The programme succeeds Europe for Citizens 2007-2013. It offers funding support in two thematic areas, namely:
1) European remembrance to raise awareness of remembrance, common history, values and the aim of the EU; and 
2) Democratic engagement and civic participation to encourage democratic and civic participation of citizens at Union level.

The progrmma will be published in the Official Journal at the end of April. In the beginning of May the annual work programme and the programme guide with funding opportunities and deadlines will be published. The first application deadline for town twinning projects, networks of twinned towns and remembrance projects will probably be June 4, 2014. The second deadline for submissions for town twinning projects, networks of twinned towns and civil society projects is expected to be September 1, 2014.
