NIAS-Lorentz Program - Distinguished Lorentz Fellowships 2015/2016

The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) and the Lorentz Center invite nominatons for the Distinguished Lorentz Fellowship for the academic year 2015/2016. The nomination deadline is October 15, 2014. The fellowship is awarded to a leading scientist working on cutting-edge research at the interface between the Humanities and/or Social Sciences on one hand and the Natural Sciences and/or Technological Sciences on the other. Pivotal to this program is the understanding that important and exciting advances are to be expected through research at the interface of these scientific fields.

Rectors and deans of Dutch universities, members of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), chairs of the Young Academy (DJA) and the Dutch Network of Women Professors (LNVH), directors of KNAW, NWO and TNO institutes and directors of museums or industrial organizations with a research agenda may nominate candidates.

The Fellowship consists of:

A fellowship at NIAS as a scholar-in-residence for up to 10 months including on-campus study and accommodation;
Replacement funds of up to € 3,800 per month (for nominees employed at a Dutch university);
An interdisciplinary workshop at the Lorentz Center focusing on the topic of the fellowship with a budget of € 20,000 and full organizational support;
A personal prize of € 10,000.
