Three new projects awarded in NWO Open Programme ALW

The division of Earth and Life Sciences (ALW) of NWO has funded three new projects with a grant from the Open Programme. The Open Programme wants to be a breeding ground for innovation and talent. Proposals are not related to a theme or ambition. The programme aims to promote innovative scientific research of a high quality across the entire breadth of the earth and life sciences.
Applications can be submitted at any time. The budget is € 8 million per year.

The awarded projects are the following:
• Hoe de helft van alle stikstof gemaakt wordt -
Dr. ir. B. Karta, RUN;
• Sexual selection in the wild: male song and female choice in great tits (Parus major) -
Prof. dr. M. Naguib, WUR;
• A novel approach to understand and regionally represent vegetation—cloud interactions -
Dr. J. Vilà-Guerau de Arell, WUR;
