Alzheimer's Research UK funding opportunities 2015 ($ 1,250,000)

The Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) invites applications for different grant schemes. ARUK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity specialising in finding preventions, causes, treatments and a cure for dementia. ARUK has a large number of different grant schemes through which researchers can apply for funding. Grants are between £ 30,000 and $ 1,250,000.

Researchers can apply for:
• Network Support: designed to act as a bridge to other funding which has already been secured or there is a clear plan to secure, or where there is a clearly-argued need to retain key staff or to complete key pieces of work to a tangible end point. Funding is up to £ 30,000 for one year;
• Equipment: between £ 10,000 and £ 100,000 for scientific equipment, flexibly defined. Joint funding applications for even larger pieces are accepted;
• Sabbatical/Secondment: enable established researchers to enrich their research programmes and develop collaborations. The award is worth a maximum of £ 50,000 for up to one year;
• Mechanisms of cellular death in neurodegeneration: a collaborative funding programme between The Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Research UK and The Weston Brain Institute.
Its overall goal is to discover and understand the mechanisms and pathophysiological processes by which brain cell loss is medicated in disease and thereby seek insights and potential targets for therapeutic interventions that would sustain healthy brain function. Funding is between $ 100,000 - $ 1,250,000.

Deadlines are May 8, 2015 for Mechanisms of cellular death in neurodegeneration and May 1, 2015 for all the other grants.
