Second call for Food & Business Research Programme

The NWO-division of WOTRO Science for Global Development invites applications for the second call within the Food & Business Global Challenges Programme (GCP), part of Food & Business Research. Funding is available for two types of research projects: Integrated Projects (IP) and Fast Track Research (FTR). Deadline for submitting Letters of Intent for FTR proposals is June 8, 2014. Preliminary IP applications and final FTR applications must be submitted by July 8, 2014. The call has been developed in collaboration with the Food & Business Knowledge Platform and focuses on two priority areas for research and innovation: Inclusive business models for food security and Regional trade for food security.

Teams of researchers and other public or private partners from both the Netherlands and from at least one Low or Middle Income Country are invited to submit inter- and/or transdisciplinary proposals to WOTRO. IPs have a maximum duration of four to five years and a budget of up to € 600,000. For FTR-projects, the maximum duration is two to three years with a budget of up to € 250,000. Partners are required to provide co-funding of 20% of the total project budget, in cash and/or in kind.

GCP aims to encourage scientific research and innovation projects (covering technological, organisational, policy, and social innovations) on food security and related private sector development that contribute to long-term access to affordable, safe and nutritious food for vulnerable and resource-poor populations in Low and Middle-Income Countries. The programme is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NWO and is managed by WOTRO.
