STW Breed4Food Partnership open for applications

Due to great interest, Technology Foundation STW has decided to open the partnership with Breed4Food earlier than the planned opening date of November 3. Deadline for pre-proposals remains December 1, 2014. The STW-Breed4Food Partnership focusses on the development of novel genetic and genomic tools through innovative science, beneficial to the breeding, production and consumption of animal proteins with a strong commitment to responsible stewardship of animal resources.
STW Breed4Food Partnership is an initiative of four Netherlands-based animal breeding companies (TOPIGS, CRV, Hendrix Genetics and Cobb Europe). A budget of € 3,000,000 is available. Project costs that can be requested from STW are up to € 750,000 per project.

STW Partnership programmes foster collaboration between academic and industrial researchers. The main deliverables of the STW-Breed4Food Partnership are:

New excellent and distinct knowledge to be applied in animal breeding;
Methods and tools for efficient and effective individual phenotyping;
Accurate prediction of the phenotype using genomic approaches.
