Nominations Heineken Prizes 2014 open ($ 200,000)

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) has opened the call for nominations for the Heineken Prizes 2014. Deadline for submitting nominations for the Heineken Prizes for science and for the  Heineken Young Scientists Awards is November 15, 2013. The prizes are awarded every two years to the best researchers in the world in the fields of biochemistry and biophysics, medicine, the environmental sciences, history, and cognitive science.

In September 2014 it will be 50 years since the first prize was awarded. On the occasion of this anniversary, the prize money for the five Heineken Prizes for science is being increased from $ 150,000 to $ 200,000 per prize, which means that a total of $ 1 million for the science awards is funded. The prize money for the Heineken Young Scientists Awards remains € 10,000.

The prizes are offered by the Dr H.P. Heineken Foundation and the Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation.
