2012-09-12 The Seventh European Conference on Biological Invasions (NEOBIOTA 2012) will take place from 12 to 14 September 2012 in Pontevedra, Spain.

Widely understood by science-fiction fans as referring to extraterrestrial creatures, the word 'alien' has yet another signification. An "alien" is any species found out of its normal habitat. Whilst, in the vast majority of cases, such species do not fit in the new environment, an estimated 10% of them manage to adapt. They can then become a threat to biodiversity which requires immediate cooperative and specific planning.

The event will address current problems, potential cooperation between scientific communities and solutions in this regard, as well as research activities being carried out to diminish the ecological and economic impact of biological invasions.
