Call JTI Biobased Industries 2017 launched
The Joint Undertaking on Bio-based Industries (BBI) has launched the 2017 call for proposals Bio Based Industries PPP. Deadline for submitting applications is September 7, 2017. The call with identifier H2020-BBI-JTI-2017 has a total budget of ca € 81 million. There are 16 topics that can be funded: seven Research & Innovation Actions (RIAs), five Demonstration Actions (DEMOs), two Flagship actions (FLAGs), and two Coordination & Support Actions (CSAs).
The 2017 call is the fourth in a total of seven calls that will be published between 2014 and 2020. There are four strategic orientations, namely Feedstock, Process, Products, and Market uptake. As initiated in the Annual Work Plan in 2016, this year it moves away from a strict biomass feedstock ‘push’ based on the traditional value chains, towards a demand for biomass to enable processing to respond adequately to a ‘pull’ from the end markets.
More information can also be found at the Participant Portal under the programme Horizon 2020. It is published under the main pillar Societal Challenges.
The Joint Undertaking on BBI is a public-private partnership aiming at increasing investment in the development of a sustainable bio-based industry sector in Europe. It aims at providing environmental and socio-economic benefits for European citizens, increasing the competitiveness of Europe and contributing to establishing Europe as a key player in research, demonstration and deployment of advanced bio-based products and biofuels. The BBI Joint Undertaking will also play an important role in achieving a bioeconomy in Europe.
