First edition: Ammodo KNAW Award (€ 300,000)

Ammodo and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) invite nominations for the first edition of the Ammodo KNAW Award. Deadline for submitting nominees is June 16, 2014. The Award is intended to encourage unfettered fundamental scientific research. The target group is internationally recognised researchers working in the Netherlands who received their PhDs within the last fifteen years.
Funding consists of eight sums of money each of € 300,000.

The Ammodo KNAW Award will be granted once every two years and covers the following disciplines:
• Biomedical sciences;
• Humanities;
• Natural sciences;
• Social sciences.

Ammodo promotes innovation in the arts and sciences. The foundation wants to enable internationally recognised researchers to conduct their research into fundamental scientific questions in an unfettered way and has sought cooperation with the KNAW. The KNAW has a great deal of expertise in selecting scientists. Together the organisations have chosen to structure their cooperation in the form of an award as to achieve the greatest possible objectivity in the assessment of scientists.
