Call to fund senior CGIAR-experts launched next week

NWO announces a new call for Senior Expert Candidates within the framework of the Netherlands – CGIAR partnership. The call will be launched in the week of May 14, 2018. Deadline for the first assessment round will be July 5, 2018. Dutch senior experts involved in CGIAR research or management, are offered a chance to spend (more) time on their CGIAR activities, since they will be able to apply for a grant that enables them to cover part of their personnel costs.

The call for Senior Experts will contribute to the mutual benefit of partnering by supporting the participation of Dutch research organisations in CGIAR. It funds part of the personnel costs of Senior Experts, employed at a Dutch research organisation who participate in a CGIAR Research Program (CRP) or Platform with linkages to one or more of the following knowledge domains:

  • Agriculture for nutrition and health;
  • Sustainable and inclusive value chains and sectors;
  • Genetic improvement and propagation materials;
  • Climate smart agriculture.

The Senior Expert Programme (SEP) is one of the four instruments in the Netherlands (NL) - CGIAR research programme and has a budget of up to € 2.95 million.

The Netherlands – CGIAR partnership enhances international agricultural research in view of contributing to transformational change in agriculture around the world by advancing food system knowledge and joint public and private innovation. This call for SEP candidates is implemented in close collaboration with the CGIAR and with the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), as well as the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP).
