Pre-announcement JPI Climate call AXIS

JPI Climat announces the ERA-NET Cofund Call Assessment of Cross(X)-sectoral climate Impacts and pathways for Sustainable transformation (AXIS) for research proposals. The call will be launched early April this year. Deadline for submitting pre-proposals will be in June 2018. NWO participates on behalf of the Netherlands. The ERA-NET Consortium AXIS has been set up to enhance integration of an array of research disciplines related to climate change research.

In particular, it aims to improve coherence, integration and robustness of climate impact research and connect it to societal needs. The AXIS joint call will be structured into three interlinked themes:

• Cross-sectoral and cross-scale climate change impact assessments;
• Integration of biophysical climate change impact estimates with economic models;
• Developing pathways to achieve the long-term objectives of the Paris Agreement, taking into account interactions with SDGs closely linked to SDG 13 (“climate action”).

The indicative budget for the call is € 15 - 17 million. The call is supported by at least ten funding organisations from nine European countries and co-fund support of the European Commission. The duration of a research project is up to 3 years.
