€ 5.1 million for Food, Cognition and Behaviour

NWO has published a new call for proposals Food, Cognition and Behaviour, a joint initiative of the National Initiative Brain & Cognition (NIHC), the Medical Sciences division (ZonMw), the Earth and Life Sciences division (ALW) and the Social Sciences division (MaGW). Deadline for submitting proposals is March 6, 2013. The call concerns interactions between food and consumers, i.e. healthy choices and healthy eating habits, and the impact of food on cognitive health. With regard to this topic, NWO wants to join forces with parties in the public and private sectors to organise fundamental scientific research and precompetitive research. In this way, NWO is implementing the Top Sector policy.

There is a total budget of € 5,100,000 available. The call consists of two forms of projects, namely small short-term projects (6 to 18 months) and large long-term projects (2 to 5 years). The maximum grant for a small project is € 100,000. Large projects grants range from € 250,000 to € 750,000.

NWO organises a Matchmaking Event on 19 November in The Hague, with the aim to contribute to substantive strong proposals. Information will be given, ideas can be tested, and partners found.
