Virology - KNAW Beijerinck Prizes 2019

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) invites nominations for its Beijerinck Prizes for 2019. The Beijerinck Virology Prize and Beijerinck Premium are awarded every two years in the field of virology. Deadline of submissions is October 1, 2018. The Virology Prize consists of medal engraved with the image of M.W. Beijerinck and a monetary award of € 35,000. The Premium consists of a monetary award of € 25,000, that may be spent on research at the recipient’s discretion.

The Beijerinck Virology Prize is awarded to a researcher who has distinguished himself/herself internationally in the field of virology, including its biochemical and biophysical aspects. Eligible candidates for the Beijerinck Premium are young researchers working at a Dutch university or research institute who received their PhDs not longer than eight years ago.

The Prizes are established by the M.W. Beijerinck Virology Fund, founded by Dr and Mrs L.E. den Dooren de Jong-Ris in memory of the virologist Martinus Willem Beijerinck.

The award ceremony will take place in March 2019.
