New NWO call Natural Artificial Intelligence

NWO invites applications for its new call Natural Artificial Intelligence. Deadline for the Letters of Intent is February 20, 2014. Natural Artificial Intelligence aims at advancing the state of the art in artificial intelligence by integrating novel insights from artificial and natural intelligence into integrative models of natural artificial intelligence. The programme welcomes proposals with the same aim, with algorithmic contributions where insights from adjacent natural intelligence fields (e.g., neuroscience, robotics) show promise at improving and constraining intelligent algorithms along the dynamical perception-action arc where uncertainty and temporal evolution are central to the scientific problem.

The total budget for this research programme is € 1,500,000. Funding is available for a grant for one research position (PhD student or two- or three-year post-doc), plus a maximum of € 10,000 for additional resources for the proposed research. The additional resources may be equipment/software, travel expenses and/or other activities associated with the project.
