Cancer - KWF Sta Op Tegen Kanker (€ 6,000,000)

KWF and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) invite proposals for the Sta Op Tegen Kanker Dream Team Translational Cancer Research Grant. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2014. The grant provides four years of funding up to € 6 million for a translational cancer research project that will address critical problems in patient care and deliver near-term patient benefit through investigation by a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team of expert investigators.

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) embarked on a series of projects to raise significant funds for research that will positively impact patient care and prevention. The research grant represents a new, focused effort to implement advances in cancer research as rapidly as possible through the creation of a collaborative, translational cancer research 'Dream Team'.

As the scientific partner in the SU2C initiative, the AACR provides scientific oversight and conducts expert peer review and grants administration for SU2C. The AACR is highly regarded as the scientific brain trust in all subfields of cancer research and for its peer review process that is fast, flexible, rigorous, and transparent. In 2010 the Stand Up To Cancer concept was introduced in the Netherlands by the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding), under the name of ‘Sta Op Tegen Kanker’ (www.staoptegenkanker.nl).
