ZonMw publishes fourth call Enabling Technologies Hotels

ZonMw launched the fourth call within the programme Enabling Technologies Hotels. Deadline of submissions is August 29, 2017. The goal of the call is to stimulate active collaboration between researchers with and without access to high-end technologies. The budget available is € 1.86 million and funding that can be requested per hotel project is up to € 30,000. ZonMw supports access to high-end technologies for researchers early in their careers and for researchers in public-private partnership.

ZonMw and NWO have made funds available for the programme, which contributes to the aims of the Topsectors Life Sciences and Health (LSH), Agri & Food and Horticulture & Starting Materials. The Technology Hotel concept entails that researchers who do not have access to high-end technologies (the guests), can obtain access to these technologies and the connected expertise and infrastructure via a service-oriented facility (the Hotel) with the ambition of realizing active follow-up collaboration. From an evaluation of projects in the first two calls it was concluded that this programme successfully stimulates the use of high-end Technologies: all participants in the evaluation had the intention to continue working on the Technology. More than half of the participants in the evaluation indicated that collaboration with the Technology Hotel was continued after the granted ETH project.

Support can be requested in the following areas:

  • Bioinformatics, Computational and Systems Biology;
  • Genomics (incl. Next Generation Sequencing approaches);
  • Proteomics & Structural Biology;
  • Metabolomics;
  • Bioimaging & Phenotyping (incl. Advanced Microscopy and Medical Imaging).
