New cooperation Netherlands - Brazil: Advanced Instrumentation for Astronomy

Researchers from the Netherlands and from the State of São Paulo, Brazil, can jointly apply for funding for research projects focusing on 'Advanced Instrumentation for Astronomy'. Deadline for submitting proposals is September 1, 2015. Aim of this call is to strengthen research cooperation between the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and the Netherlands by funding joint research projects in the field of 'Advanced Instrumentation for Astronomy'. The total budget available is € 3 million.

The call is a cooperation between the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). It focuses on the present and future ground-based facilities that are the top priorities in the Netherlands and in Brazil. Based on common interest and common expertise, the following priority areas have been identified:
• Optical and Infrared Astronomical Instrumentation;
• Submillimeter / Far Infrared Astronomical Instrumentation;
• Underlying and enabling hardware & software technologies for 1) and 2).

In the Netherlands, the maximum amount of funding that can be applied for per proposal is € 500,000.
