Fourth call Food & Business Global Challenges Programme open for proposals

The NWO-division of WOTRO Science for Global Development, in collaboration with the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform, invites applications for the fourth call within the Global Challenges Programme (GCP), part of Food & Business Research. The call focuses on scaling up climate-smart agriculture. Funding is available for Fast Track Research (FTR). Deadline for submitting Letters of Intent is March 28, 2017.

FTR-projects have a maximum duration of three years with funding of up to € 250,000. The CCAFS partner is required to provide in kind co-funding, striving for the equivalent of € 250,000. The budget available is € 4.5 million. Teams of researchers and other public or private partners from the Netherlands and from at least one Low or Middle Income Country may submit applications, together with a CCAFS Project Leader, interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary proposals.

NWO organises a pre-proposal meeting in the morning of February 10, 2017, for potential applicants. During this meeting, they will be informed on CCAFS projects that they can affiliate with. Registration is required. The deadline to register is February 9, 2017, 12:00hrs noon CET via gcp@nwo.nl.

The Food & Business GCP aims to encourage scientific research and innovation projects (covering technological, organisational, policy, and social innovations) on food security and related private sector development that contribute to long-term access to affordable, safe and nutritious food for vulnerable and resource-poor populations in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
